They don't actually read gas meters anymore, they just scan them with a gun thingy from the road.
I think he stole the money you keep in the creamer cup on the shelf in the kitchen.

They are not that sophisticated here yet. They scan it directly from the meter. Idiots who built this house have the meter on the back of the house, right in the yard. Every other house I lived in had all the utility meters on the side of the building.
