I did some snake surgery today. There was a small snake laying in the driveway in the shade of the garage this afternoon. It was still only like 32 degrees our or so, so it was damn cold in the shade, he looked dead. I scooped him up and laid him on the blacktop in the sun. Sure enough he started moving around. I had noticed that about the last inch of his tail was just hanging by some skin or bone or something. As he was getting warmer and got into the grass he was moving slow. I kinda watched him for an hour or so, he was moving but not very far or anything. The next time I noticed him that dead part of his tail was hung up in some grass and had him caught. I got some side cutters out and nipped that bit of his tail off. He was able to move freely and cover some ground then. Or maybe it hurt like a fucker and he was running. I dunno. The little fuck will probably freeze to death tonight if he doesn't find somewhere to get into. I feel like I gave him a fighting chance though.
