RE: JURY DUTY! - Vizth Hal - 10-09-2015 Damn my wife got $75 a day for jury duty in Tennessee, and we live down here in poor people territory. RE: JURY DUTY! - Twitchin Kitten - 10-09-2015 Every place is different. I am finding it very interesting and I don't mind participating at all. I know a lot of people bitch about it, but it's fascinating when or if you get a good case! RE: JURY DUTY! - LKTraz - 10-09-2015 Well......$5 a day is the new low pay I've heard now. RE: JURY DUTY! - twisteroo - 10-10-2015 I get paid from work, full days pay, so I suppose that's why I don't mind. Anything is better than going to work when you are still getting paid. Most places will pay you your regular salary if you're called. The ones that don't should be dropped and a new job found because that boss is a prick and doesn't deserve good workers. Considering how long some cases go especially big lawsuit ones and murder trials its unmanageable for a business to pay an employee that is called up for jury duty long term without productivity. Take OJ Simpson case although rare that case lasted 8 months aside from big business that has crazy payroll budgets I dont see a small to medium size business paying someone their salary for 8 months as a courtesy. If either of my managers got called for jury duty I would try to work with them and move their schedules around so they could still make money but I couldn't float paying them and finding someone to cover them temporarily and paying that person at similar rate. RE: JURY DUTY! - Twitchin Kitten - 10-12-2015 There is no court on Mondays, Fridays and holidays so they can work some days of the week. If they work over the weekend (as it may be in your store), they can work. So I don't see how compensating for 3 days a week will kill "you" (you being any similar employer). It's very rare around here that a trial will go 8 months anyway. If it does, I wonder if the court will compensate accordingly? Probably will I suppose. RE: JURY DUTY! - Twitchin Kitten - 10-14-2015 OK back to the Monday grind on Wednesday for me! Wish I was able to get some sleep last night. I look like death warmed over right now. I think I got about two hours sleep. Wobbles is behind me tearing through the house and her tunnels with a periodic pit stop in here to bloop at me to get me to chase her. RE: JURY DUTY! - Twitchin Kitten - 10-15-2015 And both sides have rested today. Court on Tuesday for final arguments and the we get to deliberate! RE: JURY DUTY! - Twitchin Kitten - 10-20-2015 OK now I'm annoyed. We have a 12 Angry Men thing going now in deliberations and it is NOT ME doing it. We're sleeping on it overnight and coming back tomorrow for more torture. Details of the case will be posted once I'm allowed. |
