Oh boy did the dollar signs light up in MY eyes!

I called in for my run for tomorrow and they tell me I have to run a load to Boyertown (perfectly normal) and then reload for Dunkin Donuts distribution center in NC. (Again...not out of the ordinary as I get this run about every 8 weeks or so) THEN I have to run over to Carolina Egg and pick up crax (industry term for cracked eggs) and since it won't be a full truckload, I go up to Glennwood Farms in VA to fill out the trailer then bring them back to the plant.

HOT DAMN!!!!!!!!! Big bucks trip due to the distance (somewhere in the neighborhood of 1300 miles) PLUS pay for 3 extra stops.

HaHAH! Atyou Broken eggs Crazy At last!

We went food shopping on Mark's bike last week, he picked up 10 eggs
'Nooo!' says I, 'they will never make it home over the 'sleeping policeman'.

He argued they will be fine.
So we had scrambled egg and toast for lunch..........he forgot they were on board as we bombed over the ramps at 40mph! I was screaming at him to slow down on the back carrying the bananas in one hand and hanging on to him with the other Bikers

Is the party on you this weekend then? Drunk

Damn......what should have rung "cha ching" turned into "Geeze am I glad that the holiday pay and driver's meeting pay are on this check".

The second pickup was cancelled for me due to Carolina having MORE than a truckload of crax. 28 pallets make up a full load and they had 30. A second driver was sent down to bring them supplies (pallets, flats and pallet dividers), grab those last 2 pallets and then go pick up Glenwood.

This killed one extra stop pay for me and knocked my mileage back a zone. Effectively it killed about 90 bucks off the trip pay. On top of that, I called for today's load and it turns out they have nothing for me. Shit.....that's another 130 bucks I won't see. Dodgy

Add to all this that the change in stops also changed my routing back. Had I gone to the Virginia place I would have crossed back west to Roanoke when I left there and ran back up I-81. Since I headed back right from Carolina Egg it put me up I-95 right through DC and Baltimore. AND wouldn't ya know it......I hit DC at 5 PM.......WONderful! Gun

The only saving grace is that I can get a few things done around here before my (already knew it would be) hectic weekend hits.

Damn, it cost you more in gas / diesel than you made for it in time. Ain't that a kick in the head? It's really not fair that it costs more to travel to do your job than it does to get back in the paycheck.

RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - LKTraz - 04-13-2012

Oh I don't pay for the fuel. That is the company's expense. It took 225 gallons to make the round trip so at the average of $4.08/gal it cost $918.00 in fuel.

I just drive for the company. They pay for all the truck expenses and associated costs plus they pay me for driving. Now these costs are written into the price of the product to the customers. Much of the rise in food prices can be attributed to the cost of fuel and especially so with crops that require fuel to plant/cultivate/harvest.

Eggs aren't AS effected as say beef (due to the large amounts of feed for cattle and that chickens produce eggs for a long span of time) where the costs come from the need to transport from fresh butchering to processing to the store shelves.

My loss was $15 for the extra stop and a difference of $75 for a zone 7 as opposed to a zone 8 trip.
I missed the zone 8 mileage by 13 miles. Banghead
