RE: Early morning useless post thread - LKTraz - 07-14-2010 Still raining but that's ok since the ground was pretty dry. Plumbing complete! You don't know how much you depend on running water until you have to do without it. Oddly, one of my co-workers had water problems yesterday as well. His was a bit bigger deal though as his well pump died. $105.00, a trip to Harbor Freight and a couple of hours work and he was back in business. Well.....off to play in traffic once again! RE: Early morning useless post thread - twisteroo - 07-14-2010 Out of all the shit I get into around the house, plumbing is my least favorite, I'll rewire half the neighborhood before I replace one piece of pipe. Suck!!! Back to work today, hotter than fuck, muggy too, this is my first of a ten day stretch before vacation. Then I'm off to Pittsburgh to get on that trail and ride my mountain bike over to DC. (I hope things work out) RE: Early morning useless post thread - twisteroo - 07-14-2010 I ordered a new air matress for my next camping/biking trip, I ordered it Saturday or Sunday morning before work, I have 10 days before I leave. Damn UPS tracking makes it even more tense. ups Wrote:LIVONIA, MI, US 07/14/2010 5:08 A.M. RE: Early morning useless post thread - Rhubarb - 07-14-2010 No1 son has gone on holiday with his birthday present on under his biker protection. It is English weather today- drizzle, warm and outbreaks of sunshine and windy (only need snow and we have 'house'). Henry nows tells him he gets sea-sick, ah well, ferry crossing is only 25 minutes, surely not enough time to be ill? RE: Early morning useless post thread - Twitchin Kitten - 07-14-2010 It's plenty of time to be ill! The Staten Island ferry doesn't make me sick but the Cape May does. I've no clue why. Tell his friend to stand at the front of the boat with the wind in his face - it helps tons. Or try to nap. Twistie - Pittsburgh to DC?! Washington DC?! That's a friggin' haul! Takes me a good 6 - 7 hours to get to Pittsburgh and it's 3 - 4 to DC (all traffic depending) on a good run in a car with a lead foot! Are you doing round trip? It's all downhill to DC but going back - yikes! All uphill! Take your Camera! RE: Early morning useless post thread - twisteroo - 07-14-2010 I have it figured out for about 6, 60 mile days on my mountain bike pulling my trailer full of camping gear and stuff, I'm gonna travel light, I'm only taking one pair of underwears. I will take my camera and take no less than 500 pictures. I will be dropped off in Pittsburgh and picked up in DC 6 days later or so. I just read that Amtrack is going to offer a roll on bike service between Pitt and DC starting Jun 2011. That would make the trip lots easier, I could drive myself and park, and just take the train back, as it is now you have to break down your bike and box it like you would on an airplane. I have a good Cape May ferry story. I had an old $150 Datsun 210 that I drove to Fl and back in the early 90's, drove through a big blizzard all down the east coast. On the way back we decide to go to Atlantic City, we got on the ferry and my old junker didn't have an emergency brake, I sat in the car holding the brakes on for quite a while. I finally went up on the deck or where ever it was you could hang out at. I was just afraid that my car would slip out of gear, break loose and smash the hell outta the other cars, pushing them over the side of the ferry into the water. Actually, that would have been pretty funny. RE: Early morning useless post thread - Twitchin Kitten - 07-14-2010 they have chocks you can use on the sides of the parking area. Most of them are up by the front. I like that ferry a lot. It's a nice ride and sometimes in the summer, dolphins will ride alongside the boat. They added a dinner cruise boat to that ferry too. I'm not sure what boat it is that has the restaurant but there is a strict reservation / schedule for it. Speaking of bikes - I just spent the day tuning up and fixing my crappy Huffy Blades bike. I need something to do for exercise while that stupid room is still being renovated. My Bowflex and treadmill is in there doing nothing. I figure when it's not so brutally humid out I can get out on the bike and exercise. I think the nature reserve by me has bike trails too. I'll be checking that out once this humidity breaks. As I get more fit, I can and will do more in the humidity but for now, I have a hard time breathing in it. Checked the pics from last nights show.... none of them came out good! I'll have to fiddle with what we got and see what I can get up for you all.
RE: Early morning useless post thread - LKTraz - 07-15-2010 Pittsburgh to DC eh? You won't be passing too far away from me then. I take it your route will have you skirting Harrisburg? Tis that time of day once again....off to the truck I go! RE: Early morning useless post thread - twisteroo - 07-15-2010 The bike trail I'm going to ride is all here. http://www.bikecando.com/cities.aspx You have about 9 days to get in shape Twitch, then meet me in Pittsburgh on the 25th. Man, yesterday kinda sucked at work, I really didn't feel like going in the first place, then I got my ass handed to me most of the day. Hectic as hell, problems, pissed off, hot, wet feet, oh...no joy for twist. Maybe today will be better, but I doubt it.
