ARRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I finally get a trip other than to Elizabeth, NJ with some decent miles and where does it go? Clarence, NY (nothing wrong with that).....just a bit east of Buffalo (what of it?).......when there's a damned winter storm coming in! Yeah, THAT Buffalo. Ya know.......the one where it's not unheard of to get snowfalls measured in feet rather than inches. The same city that has had snowpiles up to the second story of buildings on more than one occasion.

The best part? I have to be there by 6:30 AM tomorrow morning! I need to leave at midnight tonight in order to leave some "wiggle room" to account for the possible bad weather which, by the way, is supposed to start sometime near midnight here.

AND to top it off.........I will be coming back with only about 4,000 lbs of dirty egg flats on board. I'd feel much better with around 30,000 lbs of stuff in the trailer. (Less chance of jackknife)

Have fun! Hopefully they won't close roads on you forcing you to sleep on the road.

What genius didn't check the weather for your trip?

Actually I think dispatch gave me that run specifically because they know that the rest of our drivers would have been fucking pussies and shut down before they got 60 miles from the plant then claim the roads were "impassible" so they pulled over till they got cleared.

I on the other hand have a history of plowing fucking snow with my front bumper as long as the truck will keep moving.

It took me 4 hours to get to the Pa/NY border below Corning, NY on US 15. Normally it would take me around 2 - 2 1/2 hrs.

The time to the customer should have been 5 hrs but it took 7 1/2!

The roads were pure shit till I got onto I-390 heading for Rochester and then they turned to just plain old kinda crappy.

I got on the Thruway at Rochester and "poof" like magic it was just wet!!!!!!

By the time I was on the way back it was only wet roads the whole way home.

Shoot me for being the driver who ain't scared of the weather.......just shoot me.

I'm like you - I'll drive in anything as long as I have good tires, some ballast in the bed and gas in the tank!

During your trip it snowed here for a minute then it rained and then stopped then rained some more, flooded the pool over the top, twice! Basement is our own private indoor lake.

But it warmed up until today. I had the back door open (southern exposure) all week for several hours during the hot part of the day. Today the pool was iced up and a big icicle dripping off the filter spout from water runoff.

The truck although plugged in, did not want to start up tonight either. It's getting grumpy.

Hell....my gas engine pickup didn't want to start yesterday so I can easily see your diesel not wanting to pop. It was 16 Deg F here at 4:30 AM with 30 MPH winds.

I'm just getting ready to head across the street and it's 28 with a light breeze today. A definite improvement, but still a bit too BRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm glad there's a nice wood stove over at the shed!!!!!!!!!!

RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - Twitchin Kitten - 12-16-2009

I am so not into Christmas this year.

RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - LKTraz - 12-16-2009

Me neither.

I think it's the combination of oddball weather alternating between too warm or too cold for the season, the lack of snow cover and the general gloom of that purely shitty economy.

You miserable lot Giggle
There was me about to say 'I'M COLD' Tantrum
and I read this lot. So the wind is coming in from Siberia but at least someone warmed it to 4C today.

The Mistletoe Run is on Sunday and if it freezes over it could be the first one ever cancelledSorry
Phil has been banned by the club going pillion and no he isn't going Trike either (that's for whooses), but he is getting a lift from a friend.
I may be biking, my first trip, but again not if it freezes. I'll be back to Soup Dragon duties at the pub when the harden (Santa's) bikers roll in.

I'm carrying the eggs home at the moment.

RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - Twitchin Kitten - 12-17-2009

Well Trudi, I'm going to top you again.... they're predicting anywhere up to 2 FEET of snow here over the weekend.

vile white shit

RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - LKTraz - 12-17-2009

Ah Twitch.....you have the proper Northeastern attitude! The first flakes to waft from the sky and coat the ground are "pretty" and "peaceful" or "scenic". Every other flake after the first fall are part of "that white shit"!!!!!!!!

Rotten fucking snowman poop....that's what it is. Damn snow dudes with diarrhea.
